Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement sets out the steps taken by Storage Addington to prevent modern slavery, human trafficking, forced labour and exploitation within our operations and supply chains. We are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships, and to implementing effective systems and controls to safeguard the people who work for us and with us.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Storage Addington provides storage and related services to a wide range of customers. Our operations rely on a network of suppliers and service providers, including facility management, security, cleaning, construction, maintenance, equipment, and professional services. We recognise that modern slavery risks can exist at multiple tiers of these supply chains and we are committed to identifying, assessing and managing those risks on an ongoing basis.
Zero-Tolerance Approach
Storage Addington has a zero-tolerance policy to modern slavery and human trafficking. Any form of forced, bonded or compulsory labour, child labour that is not in line with international standards, or any exploitation of vulnerable workers is strictly prohibited in our business and in our supply chains. We expect the same high standards from all our suppliers, contractors and business partners and we are prepared to end relationships where serious non-compliance is identified and not promptly addressed.
Policies and Governance
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is supported by internal policies that promote ethical conduct, respect for human rights and fair treatment of workers. These policies include standards for recruitment, working conditions, health and safety, and supplier management. Senior management is responsible for overseeing our approach and ensuring that modern slavery risks are considered in decision-making, procurement activities and long-term planning.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We conduct due diligence on new and existing suppliers that are considered to present higher risk due to their sector, geography or the nature of the services they provide. This due diligence may include questionnaires, requests for supporting documentation and verification of labour practices. Where appropriate, we undertake supplier audits to review compliance with labour, health and safety and ethical standards. These audits may be conducted on-site or remotely, and can include interviews with workers, review of employment records and inspection of working conditions.
Findings from supplier audits are documented and used to inform follow-up actions, such as corrective action plans, additional reporting requirements, or, where necessary, suspension or termination of the business relationship. We aim to work collaboratively with suppliers to improve standards, while maintaining a clear expectation of compliance.
Training and Awareness
Storage Addington is committed to building awareness of modern slavery risks among our employees, particularly those involved in procurement, contract management and facilities operations. Training and guidance are provided so that relevant staff can recognise indicators of exploitation, understand our zero-tolerance stance, and know how to escalate concerns. We promote a culture in which employees and contractors feel confident to speak up about potential abuses.
Reporting Channels and Escalation
We encourage anyone working for or with Storage Addington, as well as members of the public, to report any concerns related to modern slavery or human trafficking connected to our operations or supply chains. Concerns can be raised through our existing internal reporting channels or directly to management. Reports can be made confidentially and will be treated seriously, investigated promptly and handled sensitively.
We do not tolerate any form of retaliation against individuals who raise concerns in good faith. Where modern slavery or exploitation is suspected, we will take appropriate steps, which may include engaging with the supplier, consulting relevant experts, and notifying appropriate authorities where required.
Monitoring, Review and Continuous Improvement
Storage Addington recognises that tackling modern slavery is an ongoing process. We are committed to reviewing the effectiveness of our measures regularly and to improving our approach over time. This includes monitoring supplier performance, revisiting risk assessments, updating policies, and enhancing training and awareness initiatives.
This Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Statement will be reviewed and updated annually by senior management to reflect changes in our business structure, supply chains, legal requirements and best practice guidance. The updated statement will set out progress made during the previous year and planned actions for further strengthening our controls and responses.
By issuing this statement, Storage Addington reaffirms its commitment to respecting human rights, preventing exploitation and working collaboratively with employees, suppliers and stakeholders to eliminate modern slavery from our operations and supply chains.
